Fresh smelling home

Our homes are subjected to all sorts of smells and activities and over time can take on a smell of their own. If you have ever come home and thought the house doesn’t smell fresh try these techniques for fresher smelling carpet, curtains and upholstery.

DYC white vinegar

A few drops essential oil (orange or lavender is nice)

Baking soda

1
For carpets: Mix together baking soda with a few drops of essential oil and sift over carpet. Sit for 30 minutes and then vacuum.
2
For curtains/upholstery: Vacuum or dust.
3
Mix up a mixture of 50% water, 50% white vinegar in a spray bottle.
4
Test in an inconspious place.
5
Spray over fabric (note not suitable for linen). The vinegar smell will soon dissipate and in built odours will disappear.
6
For room smells: If the air in your room smells stale, open windows and allow room to air out. Close windows and place a bowl of Apple Cider Vinegar in the room and leave overnight. Discard the vinegar in the morning.
